Facts are beginning to emerge on the real reason Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu, reshuffled his cabinet recently. It is purely a damage control measure activated to save the state from a major religious conflict. Though, some may have been affected in what may appear as a routine cabinet reshufflement, but Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf is alleged to be the main reason for the cabinet shake up. It was reliable gathered by Newsreel, that the governor acted promptly to avert an ensuing religious conflict between Moslems and Christians which was fueled by the conduct of Mrs Akinbile Yusuf. She was alleged to have disdained the Church leadership in Lagos by not giving them a place of honour at a Christian function organized by the state principally for Christians, during the recent Christmas Carol and Thanksgiving. She was accused to have turned a state sponsored Christian event to an Islamic rally, not for religious harmony but to utter disregard of the Christian faithfuls in Lagos. It was further alleged, that her intolerant act of impunity against Christians was aggravated by her appointment of a Moslem to read the Holy Bible with mindless impunity in the face of humiliated clergies who were relegated at the background in their own event.
Newsreel confirmed that the leading Christian body in Lagos led by Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria summoned an emergency meeting with the Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu and gave him automatum to either act or face the wrath of the Church. The Church leadership made it clear that never again will Christians and the church be treated with discrimination and disdain, only to be remembered during elections. They warned against the pitfalls of his predecessor, Ambode who though a Christian, thought he could treat anionted men of God with reckless abandon.
The controversial commissioner has since been redeployed to ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Prince Anofiu Elegushi appointed to take her place at Home Affairs ministry.
