Boko Haram Killings: UN Condemns Military Ineffectiveness, FG’s Laxity And Threatens To Intervene
The United Nations has made it clear that it might have no other option than to intervene to put an end to the protracted menace of the Boko Haram terrorist group in parts of Nigeria where they have gone on a killing spree.
According to Agnes Callamard Human Rights expert and Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, since Nigeria’s security apparatuses such as the military and police have proved largely ineffective in curbing escalating acts of terrorism in the country, it is becoming increasingly necessary for the UN to step in and restore sanity.
Callamard descibed the current situation of Nigeria as very alarming with enough red flags warning of impending catastrophe greater than what is currently being experienced.
