Mammoth Crowd Welcome Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero On Royal Visit To Ilorin
In what may be considered the first Royal visit since he emerged the 15th Emir of Kano earlier in the year; a mammoth crowd thronged Ilorin International Airport on Thursday to welcome the Emir of Kano, HRM Aminu Ado Bayero, who is on a three-day visit to the ancient emirate city.
Some dignitaries from the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and notable sons of Ilorin were at the airport to welcome the emir.
The Emir of Kano arrived aboard a plane in company of some traditional chiefs at 1.45pm.
A rousing welcome ushered him as he descended the plane.
Cultural dancers, drummers also found their way into the airport to welcome the royal father with sounds of drums and songs renting the air.
Commercial tricyclists conveying many residents also stormed the Ilorin international airport to receive the royal majesty.
Horse riders dressed in beautiful regalia were seen waiting for the emir at the general hospital area for the durbar celebration.
Security personnel from the police and DSS to NSCDC, and even the local vigilante officers were mobilized into the streets and strategic areas of the town to ensure maintenance of law and order.
Emir Ado Bayero is expected to pay a courtesy call on the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Friday.
The Emir of Kano is the grandson of the eighth Emir of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdulkadir Bawa, nephew of the 10th Emir of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdulkadir Aliyu and cousin of the present Emir.
Analysts view Emir of Kano’s visit as a homecoming.
