Unveiled: Safety Africa Radio and Safety Database Centre Launched at the National Safety Awards 2021.
The 2021 edition of National Safety Awards, championed by the Media Centre for Safety Reporting (MCSR), witnessed a quadruple epoch making ceremony on the December 5, 2021.
The widely endorsed Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) project, blazed the trail in HSSE in Africa with the launch of many ‘Firsts’ in Safety Reporting and Communication.
The high point of the occasion was the activation of the first Safety Radio channels, wholly dedicated for HSSE communication in Africa.
In his speech at the commissioning, the President of Media Centre for Safety Reporting (MCSR), John Thompson said:
“Safety Africa Radio (SAR) and Safety Africa Television (SATV) were conceived and established to harness the full potentials of the digital media space in the service of mankind through robust reportage on Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)’
Safe work practices which are generally in written formats, outlining how to perform a task with minimum risk to people, equipment, materials, environment, and processes, will be demystified via effective communication channels.
Accidents resulting to injuries, illnesses and even death are results of non compliance to these procedures and guidelines among everyday people and their activities.
Our firm believe is rooted in dedicated media attention on general safety, for the enhancement of adequate effective sensitisation, public awareness and mass communication; to foster better understanding, consciousness and activate alertness on amplified assumptions, misapplications, unprocedural approaches and wide scale ignorance of how stuff work.
Thus, engendering a safety management system communication protocols.
The ultimate objective is to eliminate or reduce avoidable calamities through unsafe acts and unsafe conditions around society, which will in turn enhance productivity, economic wellbeing and safer environment for everyone to enjoy”.

The crescendo of the well organized event was the crowning of the winner of Miss Safety Africa Queen, pioneering the maiden Safety Beauty Pageant in Africa.
The event also witnessed the Safety Discourse focusing on the theme which is “Safety: Panacea to Peace, Economic Recovery and Nation-Building”.
Some selected individuals and corporate organizations who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields towards peace, safety and nation building were honoured with the National Safety Awards.
