MURDERERS OF DEBORAH SAMUEL CONDEMNED BY A GLOBAL FORUM OF PROFESSIONALS
Safety Practices Education and Research International Forum, a global rendezvous and network of private individuals and members from corporate groups united for the advancement of research, education and professional skills in safety practices; have condemned in strong terms, the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto State of Nigeria.
The Shehu Shagari College of Education student was stoned, burnt alive and murdered for alleged blasphemy by persons of extremist, unconventional and slightly strange views or behaviour, local eccentrics in educational environment.
The Forum insisted that irrespective of how deplorable and sensitive her views may have been, no individual or group has the right to extrajudicial killing. Therefore her murderers should be made to face the full weight of the secular laws of the government of the federal republic of Nigeria. Stating that even the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be unto him) warned his followers against attacking people of other faiths and the worship places of other religions.
But these murderous individuals acted in disobedience to the directives of the holy Prophet of Islam. The best way Muslims can prove their love for the Prophet is adherence to his words. Islam doesnβt allow anyone to take laws into their hands,
Therefore hate based fundamentalism must be stopped. Also such group leaders warned against instigating their followers, Nigeria being a secular country.
The murderers of Deborah Samuel must be made, by government, to quickly face the process and full weight of the law. While the federal and State governments and the Sultan of Sokoto are commended for their responses towards the control of escalation of violent riots, criminal activities, possible reprisals and backlashes in Sokoto Metropolis and likely flash points across the country.
