Labour Party State Assembly Candidate Hon. Dannie Ubani has accused Abia State Government of masterminding the arrest of House of Representatives Elect Hon. Ginger Onwusibe.

In a brief statement made available to Newsreel this afternoon, Ubani, popularly known as Manja, states:

“Abia State Government has effected the arrest of Hon. Ginger Onwusibe by hooded men believed to be operatives of DSS.

Ginger Onwusibe whose only sin is advocacy for good governance was waylaid and whisked away as he was making his way out of INEC office Abuja, where he had earlier joined his colleagues, the newly elected members of the Federal House of Representatives.

This is one of the many illegal the strategies of this thieving shameless Abia State Government to psychologically intimidate supporters of Labour Party and to keep Ginger Onwusibe out of circulation in other for them to rig the gubernatorial election”.

This arrest is coming in less than 72hours to the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections, which the opposition parties in the state are alleging that the ruling PDP is head-bent on rigging the outcome of the elections.

However, Labour Party members and Concerned Indigenes of Abia are calling on the President, Muhammad Buhari to ensure that security agencies are not used as tools of intimidations in this electioneering season.

As the time of filing this report, Department of State Security Spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunanya is yet to response to the text forwarded to him.
