2023 GUBER POLLS: ABIA STATE CONTROVERSIAL OBINGWA LG RESULTS MOVED TO ABUJA FOR REVIEW
The highly controversial Obingwa Local Government results in the Abia governorship election, held on 18th March, 2023 which was suspended for a review by INEC has been moved to Abuja.
Earlier in the suspension letter read publicly by Abia State INEC Administrative Secretary, Mr. Clement Oha, stated that an INEC team will be in Umuahia for a review of the results.
However, below are some facts about Obingwa Local Government results:
- The total registered voters in Obingwa is about 157,000
- The total number of voters accredited on 18th of March via BVAS in Obingwa is a little above 23,000
- PDP Allegedly allocated a whooping 108,000 votes to itself in the said LGA
- The INEC returning officer upon seeing the unbelievable ‘bomb’ queried the collated results and contacted its headquarters in Abuja for advice.
PDP political thugs in support of the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu stormed the Local Government Collation Centre and held Electoral Officials hostage while unleashing mayhem on other party agents. - The INEC headquarter then mandated the returning officer to suspend the results from Obingwa and directed the commission’s southeast zonal office to review the results from Obingwa
INEC will be trying to understand how 23,000 voters who were accredited to vote in Obingwa manufactured 108,000 votes.
Gov. Ikpeazu hails from the troubled Local Government Area.
